Decorating Around a Black Leather Accent Chair

Decorating Around a Black Leather Accent Chair...

Black leather furniture gives you two distinct advantages over other fabric choices: the ease and durability of maintenance of the leather material and the stain-hiding abilities of the color black. Unfortunately, black leather furniture can present some decorating difficulties. Although black leather furniture works well with chrome and white, the result can look too cold for many homeowners. This is why finding the right balance between black leather furniture and the rest of the décor is important to a successfully decorated room. And this principle does not only apply to the main furniture pieces of the home; it also applies to accent furniture as well. Take for example a black leather accent chair. If you have some difficulties in incorporating this piece of fixture in your home, keep in mind the following design tip: Think about wood finishes. Pick wood finishes for coffee tables, end tables and other furniture in the room. Wood has the ability to soften the clinical harshness of your black accent chair and give the room more warmth. Light-colored wood or laminate floors would also be ideal. Use light shades of paint. Paint your walls in the room with a light color, but not white or any of its variations like cream. Pick colors like light green, light mauve, light turquoise, peach, pale yellow, or any color that might suit your personal preferences. This should soften the design effect that black leather furniture exudes. Throw in throw pillows. Pick throw pillows for the chair in two different colors: the same color as the wall paint or a much darker version of the wall paint. Monochromatic decorating should tie together all the color in the room and blend in the furniture with its surroundings. For instance, along with your other seating pieces, you can put one light fuchsia pillow and one dark fuchsia pillow like the Essential Sham – Red/ Fuchsia by KoKo Company. Utilize accessories. Select wall pictures, rugs and other decorating objects, like status or vases that contain black and two offsetting colors. The contemporary Amela AME-7704 Modern Rugs Collection 2×3 Contemporary Jute Rug by Chandra Rugs and the Blown Glass Melon Bowl with Granite Beige and Gray Finish by Ambiente would be great choices. Try to balance the objects so that each area of the room has all the colors from the room. When decorating with objects like candles, do not use a single color; always put one light and one dark item for balance. Pick warm metals. Pick metals that convey warmth when choosing lamps or other metal objects. For instance, rather than getting chrome that has a cold look to it, opt for polished nickel which still lends silver coloring to the room but not in a garish and clinical way. These tips should help you make that gorgeous black leather chair blend into your home design scheme while still being a standout in style and looks. We wish you good luck in decorating your space!  And do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or need any decorating...

How to Paint Your Own Black Accent Tables

How to Paint Your Own Black Accent Tables...

Matching all your furniture to  the décor of your home can be easier said than done. If you have found the perfect accent table but it does not quite match your walls, other furniture, or overall design scheme, paint it yourself. Black is one of the most popular colors when it comes to furniture as it goes with practically anything. You can use this color to accent a room with darker décor – like fireplace and darker  woods, or to create a contrast and make the piece stand out in a lighter room. With the right paint and the right techniques, you can have black accent tables that will complement your décor in no time. For metal tables… Scrub the metal surface using steel wool pads to remove any stains or rust on the surface. Lay down a drop cloth or a big piece of cardboard to cover your working surface. The cloth should extend at least a foot beyond the table in all directions. Set the table on the drop cloth. Shake the paint can for about two minutes to loosen up the paint. Hold the can 10 to 12 inches from the surface of the table and spray in a continuous motion from one end to the other. Repeat for all the surfaces of the table. Let the first coat completely dry before you apply the second coat. Allow all coats to completely dry before you return the table to use. For wooden tables… Lay down a drop cloth or a piece of cardboard to protect the surrounding area from paint. Wipe the surface of the wood using a damp cloth or rug to remove dirt and dust. Sand the wooden surface with fine grit sandpaper that is 140 grain or higher. This will make the surface more receptive to the  paint. Rub the table down with a sticky tack cloth to remove the sanding dust. Prime the surface of the wood using a wood primer or dark stain. Paint in even strokes. The stain or primer gives an even surface which the paint can adhere to. Apply the black paint over the surface. Let the first coat completely dry before you apply the second one. Apply at least two coats; the number of coats can vary depending on the product. Let all coats of paint completely dry before you return the table to use. If do-it-yourself projects are not your thing, then maybe it would be a good idea to just buy a black accent table. Below are some excellent choices.
